okayYour outer journey may contain a million steps; your inner journey only has one: the step you are taking right now. As you become more deeply aware of this one step, you realize that it already contains within itself all the other steps as well as the destination. This one step then becomes transformed into an expression of perfection, an act of great beauty and quality.” – Eckhart Tolle

Each morning I like to read a passage from a book that is spiritual for me. My hands down favorite is The Power of Now  by Eckhart Tolle. I have read that book at the very least 10 times. I remember I purchased it whilst traveling through India, and I remember reading most of it on a 24 hr train trip from Bombay to Delhi. I immediately felt that this book was the foundation of truth for me.

I was re-reading a part of it again today and I was struck by the quote above. It made me think about all my goals that I have for 2013 and beyond. All the things I want to attract into my life. How many people I want to help through my coaching practice. The countries yet to visit. The relationships I want to build. All these external goals – and then I realized – what I’m doing RIGHT now is perfect. It in itself contains all my other steps and destination. I am not waiting for anything, but am  right now in an expression of perfection.

It made me feel so complete – right now. Yes those other things are going to be great, but in a sense I already have them. Not externally but internally, which is the most important. It makes me feel grateful for where I am, all of this learning and fun I get to do while I’m creating these things. All the new horizons still out there for me, all the growth I have ahead of me. I have all of that RIGHT now.

So thinking about your goals, especially as it pertains to improving a relationship with a loved one or yourself – I interpret it to mean that you already have that internally. This step you are taking right now is perfect by itself. Regardless of the external outcome, there is no other place more perfect than where you are right now.

Considering that, how does it make you feel grateful? In regards to the path you are on with your external and internal relationships – what is already perfect about it RIGHT NOW? Let me know in comments below.

  1. Your post is very inspiring Aimee, it made me feel that I’m in the right time, in the right place! I really loved the quote, mainly this: “your inner journey only has one: the step you are taking right now”, and I think that’s correct! I’m happy and feel lucky to be where I am today towards all my dreams! Thanks for the encouragement!

  2. Great interpretation on how to find the perfect moment and I love how you express it on this article. Yes, you are right, we are perfect NOW internally and it makes a person complete.
