A lot of times we (myself included) feel overwhelmed by our dreams. Or things we want to do. Or even just meeting new people.

We put a lot of pressure on ourselves because we want to do things really well and feel good about the way we did it.

So we often start thinking about how things might go wrong. How we might look stupid. What other people are going to think.

This is where the question How Can I Be of Service can actually be of service to you.

If you focus on others, and serving them, you forget to worry about yourself.

I use this ALL THE TIME. In developing my business, I have had to give presentations, interview people who have been on Oprah, and be interviewed myself to a lot of people. One audience was 40k!

It’s so easy to spin out and think I hope I don’t make a fool of myself. But whenever I start getting nervous, and directly before the event, I deliberately concentrate on being of service to my listeners. When I choose to think about that, then I can’t also be thinking about me.

I even use this before parties or networking events, any time I’m going to interact with others.

So not only am I focusing on helping others, which feels GREAT, but I’m also tricking myself out of getting nervous!

It’s a win-win!
