I had no idea how powerful Gratitude can be, in so many areas of our lives. I just interviewed Kim Serafini (no relation that we know of) who is The Queen of Gratitude. And yes I will admit, I found her by accident and had to contact her just based on our shared last name, it’s not common outside of Italy. OK back to gratitude.

First off, when you take time to practice gratitude, it does not all sorts of nice things for you body including releasing feel good hormones and relaxing your muscles. It’s like having a mental massage. Second, when you focus on things to be grateful for, you find even more things to be grateful for. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I mean gratitude of course sounds like a good thing…nobody wants to be a person who takes things for granted…but i didn’t know that it could help create the life you want while you were doing something that seems llike “the right thing to do”.

So even if you don’t feel particularly grateful because you are having a bad day, just focusing on one small thing and being grateful for it can help turn that around (easier said than done, I know!)

And there are other benefits too, if you want to give the interview a listen, you can do so right here: The Power of Gratitude Interview with Kim Serafini.

Now that I have you amped up on Gratitude, my question for you is one of these (take your pick)?

1. What area of your life could use more gratitude (hint, it’s an area of your life that’s not working!) and what could you find to be grateful about?

AND/OR

2. Do you have a gratitude ritual? If so, what is it and how does it make you feel?

Would love to hear your answers in the comments below.

  1. Hi Aimee,
I met Mark Porteous through you and for that I am extremely grateful! I am in his Mastermind group and it is great! I am planning to help women find meaning and joy in the second half of their lives through creativity and spirituality. I have several wonderful retreat type workshops almost planned, my website in the works, and I have an outline of my book. I can tell by your emails that we are kindred spirits! Right now I am participating in the 21 day gratitude exercise (you should check it out, the visuals are beautiful!) http://www.21daysofgratitude.com. I don’t have a formal gratitude practice, but often feel spontaneously grateful throughout the day and when I am feeling negative or beleaguered, I pause to reflect on everything I have to be grateful for. I hope we meet sometime.
